Some tips that helped me through my transitioning period: . 1. Patience. I know this is the toughest part but without it you will not get the best results. . 2. Find out your porosity, density and elasticity level. When you know your hair characteristics you can shop for hair products that go well with your hair. . 3. Try products and write down your product combos. This way you will see paterns of what your hair likes/dislikes. . 4. Invest time in getting to know ingredients. This isnt that time consuming at all if you just focus on it for a couple of days. There are a lot of tips and tricks online to help you recognize the bad stuff. . 5. Get familiar with curly hair terms like no-poo, pre-poo, deep conditioning, scrunch, rake, co-wash etc. If you not know what the word means just google it. . 6. Follow curl guru's like @vmuse919 @hif3licia @curlsandblondies for lots of curly hair 101! Their pages / channels are really inspiring. And they helped me a lot through my journey. . 7. Find out what method works best for curl definition. You can try shingling, twisting, fingercoiling, scrunching to name a few. Also try out different methods for applying product to your hair (rake or praying hands method for example). . 8. Switch up your routine and products. When transitioning you go through different phases. Always keep on checking what your hair needs. I hear a lot of girls who use a particular productcombo with amazing results. But after a while it doesn't work anymore. Maybe its time to switch things up. . 9. Find that moisture/protein balance. And never skip deep condition day. You get the best results when you hold on to your treatment routine. I also hear a lot of girls who are scared for protein. When you hair is sensitive to protein it doesnt mean you will never have to add protein. I figured out that I dont pike too much protein in styling products but I do like a good protein treatment once in a while. . 10. Love your hair in any phase of transitioning. Every phase got his own ups and downs but the challenge is not to give up and find new motivation. Keep track of your progress and look at before and after pix to see its all worth it!
