#runonsentence but you know it's true. 😂 Seriously, I cannot function without chapstick. Went to work once and forgot it,...had my mom drop one off for me. 🤦🏽‍♀️ My question I'd love for you to share: what's your favorite brand of chapstick, and why? I'm always on the hunt for that perfect consistency and feel. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 #chapstick #winter #drylipsarenobueno #alaskaproblems #alaskamom

Why so chapped? Compared to the rest of our skin, lips have an extremely thin and transparent stratum corneum. This is also why our lips appear RED, from the blood vessels beneath this transparent skin layer. Unlike the skin on other parts of the body, lips don’t contain oil-producing glands that can help keep them moist, and they also don’t have hair to protect them against the sun. So our lips don’t get much protection from dry, cold air, wind and sunlight. Worsened in the winter with colds/flu and plenty of mouth breathing. Licking your lips makes matters worse by drying them out further as your saliva evaporates. The best thing to do if you have dry or sore lips is to regularly apply a lip balm containing petroleum or beeswax (to reduce loss of moisture), preferably with sun protection. Any favourite lip balms?? PS Mine probably Lanolips with lanolin, although some people can be sensitive to this x
