BENCH PRESS TIPS ⤵️⤵️ - - - *disclaimer* My bench is the greatest thing you’ll ever see but since the start of my bulk I’ve gained 15kgs on the movement itself, so these are some cues that have helped me HEAPS! #teamnoobgains - - - 1️⃣ Retract your scapula. So many people at gym are benching whilst laying pretty much flat on the bench! Which can lead to some serious shoulder issues as you try and add weight to the bar. So let’s not do that and get a solid arch yeah? So, to retract your scapula, pretty much just try a squeeze your traps/shoulder blades together. - - 2️⃣ Playing around with grip width. This was MASSIVE for me, I didn’t feel comfortable with my bench press until I found the right grip width (for me). The best way to find this is to play around with it (of course) but also see if your joints align at the bottom of the movement (meaning your wrist/forearm are pretty much vertical). And see what feels the strongest and SAFEST way to bench for you. - - 3️⃣ Using the cue “breaking the bar” in half, externally rotating your shoulders can contribute overall tightness/stability, meaning you’ll most likely be able to bench more as we’ll have more overall tightness throughout the movement - - - And as always, thanks for reading this far and if you have any questions regarding training or nutrition, DM me 😊✌🏼
