First time trying bbq tempeh! Five sp for a quarter of the baking sheet. 👍
I'm back! (And I've got some bought-in-Canada @halotopcreamery 😍) I took a little break from tracking and posting on this page to disconnect from the pressures that inevitably come from social media and keeping a tightly controlled diet. But I'm back, and I've taken a more "flexitarian" view on my eating habits. If you've followed along on my journey, on January 1st I went strictly vegan for 1.5 months. I felt pretty good, but would feel left out of social situations and struggled to find things to eat outside of my house. The strictness of both being vegan and a WWer was hard for me, so I've introduced some dairy and limited meat back into my diet. I still feel best when I'm not eating those foods, but I've learned that when I tell myself I "can't" have something, I get irritable and want to rebel. So here we are! I just dug into the birthday cake #HaloTop and it was AMAZING. I can't wait to take the other flavours for a test drive too, now that they're available in Ottawa!
Soooooo I haven't posted in a while. I'm taking a little break from Instagram to focus on me: getting back into exercise (which I've been struggling with the past two weeks or so) and not binging on crappy food at night. I've been trying to make sure I get enough food throughout the day, so here's a photo of my 3 p.m. "starting to get hangry" work snack today: one green apple, about 1.5 tbsp. peanut butter and a tiny sprinkling of chia seeds and hemp hearts. About 5ish SmartPoints I suppose, but I'm off tracking this week, so I'm not counting things. Happy Fridays, folks and enjoy the long weekend (for those who are lucky enough to get it off!).
We're so lucky to have the Rideau Canal a short walk from our condo. ❄️ My parents were up visiting for the weekend, so of course we went for a skate. Gotta get those fit points in!
Eat the rainbow. 🌈 Getting some good vitamins and minerals in with strawberries, blueberries and guava. 😍 Zero SmartPoints, of course!
What do you do when your parents are up for the weekend? Feast at vegan-friendly food joints! First stop, Fiazza Fresh Fired Pizza 🍕, where I got a pie with roasted garlic, roasted red peppers, Daiya cheese and vegan pesto tofu. Just as good as a regular pizza, if not better! Second stop, Mantovani 1946 for vegan vanilla gelato (!!!!). 🍦 My family knows the owners back from when me and my brother were kids and played hockey, and I absolutely recommend this place for THE BEST Italian gelato in Ottawa. The vegan stuff is indistinguishable from non-vegan (back when I ate dairy). No photo, but a vegan tempeh BLT and fries at Pure Kitchen Ottawa for dinner. 👍 No points counting today obviously. 😂😂
Nailed it. 👍 I hit Lifetime at exactly two pounds over my goal weight (therefore just squeaking by) but I turned it around and got comfortably in my Lifetime goal range again. Plus, first Lifetime monthly weigh in, done already. It feels good!
Fruit time. 👍 Loading up on some raspberries, blackberries and guava for a post-dinner snack. 😍
The theme at today's meeting was finding your "why." My why is constantly changing, and made up of many separate whys, but one that has stuck with me is fitting into a beautiful dress I bought in NYC last spring. I've never been one to wear fancy or sexy clothes, but when I saw this dress---fitted, plunging and black---I knew that one day I'd fit into it and get to have a fun night out on the town. I bought a small size and have kept it in my closet since then. Is this shallow? No, it's not. I know that fitting into that dress won't solve all my problems or make my dreams come true, but working towards something that would make me feel happy and pretty for a night isn't wrong. To me, it's right. So while I've reached Lifetime, I still have another 7-8 lbs I'm slowly working off. And soon, that dress will come off its hanger. 👍
I posted about this Spelt Cranberry Carrot Loaf (5 sp per slice) a few weeks ago and now I make it almost every week! So delicious and full of lots of health-promoting goodies. 😍 Carrots, cranberries, chia, unsweetened almond milk, cinnamon, whole spelt flour, oats...how can you go wrong with those? Recipe is from the My New Roots cookbook.
Anyone else obsessed with dragonfruit?! Now, if it were only less expensive...
Guess who's doing the CN Cycle for CHEO? This girl right here! 🚴♀️To help raise funds for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and other organizations, I'll be riding 70 km in Ottawa this May. It's a bit nerve-wracking as I've only ever done 56 km at one time, and I only own a little blue leisure bike, but there's no better time to push yourself than for a good cause! If anyone else is doing the ride, let me know! I'd love to say hi on race day. 😊
Annnnnd it's official! Lifetime achieved!!! ❤️❤️❤️🗝️ I'm definitely going to write something longer later, but for now, I'm just in celebration mode. Happy Saturday, folks!
That awesome feeling when you open up your email to see that @wwcanada created an all-vegan Freestyle recipe round-up! 😍 Dreams coming true right here. ❤️
Homemade vegan poutine. 😍😍😍 I almost never count points on Saturdays, my weigh-in day, but tomorrow I'm back on track. Balance!
Today's tasty lunch: mac and cheeze with peas, broccoli and a bunch of delicious, vitamin B12-rich nutritional yeast for 6 sp. 😍
Down 0.4 this week. 👍 I turned around a bit of a gain midweek and stopped eating the junk food in my house. (Ahem, an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's vegan ice cream in one sitting.) Note to self: just don't buy it! Next week is the big weigh in...I'm going for Lifetime! Right now I'm sitting at 0.6 above my goal, which is perfectly in my maintenance range. Just have to focus, eat right and keep up my workouts. 😊
