Your body relies on the information coming in, to know what muscles to turn on and off etc. . If you are not efficiently processing this information then your body will always respond improperly(causing pain or decreased performance). . Most rehab and performance programs only focus on the output and never on the input. If you want to get the best results this is a critical concept to understand and implement with your current techniques. . #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physiotherapist #rehab #pain #performance #sportsmedicine #sportsperformance #personaltrainer #injury #exercise #speed #power #brain #nervousytem #washingtondc #dc #arlingtonva

*Pain for life* The number of patients' that have walked into my practice having been told by other clinicians (in the past) that they are likely going to be in 'pain for life', will 'deteriorate significantly’ is crazy. After examining them thoroughly and with a detailed case history, I was unable to identify any evidence of any of the above. With a little treatment, re-education (on symptoms, nature of pain and beliefs related to it) and rehab these patients with the 'pain for life' diagnosis seem to make a miraculous recovery. No miracles took place here though. So why the 'pain for life' diagnosis in the first place? I am ever the optimist, so I put a lot of this confusion down to a lack of understanding (or poor communication of information) from previous honest healthcare providers. I would be lying if I said I was perfect and that I have never given out unhelpful information in the past, but we can forgive ourselves here if the intention was in the best interest of our patients. I'm concerned however, that some dishonest healthcare practitioners (who I very kindly refer to as 'Quacks' in this video) are handing out such diagnosis for commercial gain. Some of the above-mentioned patients had been on treatment plans spanning sometimes over 100 visits/year. These patients displayed strong negative beliefs and behaviors which we know from research are associated with a poor prognosis. We know our words as healthcare providers are powerful. They can reassure or alternatively cause catastrophising thoughts. These can impact our patients’ recovery significantly either positively or negatively. We must choose them wisely. And one final message to the dishonest practitioner.....Stop being a wally! Did you know that EPL players actually work the hardest during the Christmas break when we are all winding down? They play more games over December than any other month, allowing us to attend/watch more games over our holiday period. For example, @chelseafc , as seen in this video, play a total of 7 premier league games this month. That is compared to 3 games next month and 4 the previous two months.⚽⚽ . Having a good cooldown at the end of a game ensures the team is ready to go for back to back games, makes sure they are moving well and at a lower risk of injury possible.🔥⚡ . @garyjcahill @dannydrinkwater @victormoses @mbatshyayi @bakayoko_official14 @hazardeden_10
